Class Outline:

Week 1: The Creative Life

The many challenges of literary life are treasure troves of opportunity, and for every one, there exists a key to unlocking the gift hidden inside. This wordshop begins with an exercise designed to move the participant past those challenges or “blocks” and discover new ways of developing and editing work, while avoiding self-censorship.

Week 2: Reflections

We are often unconscious about the effect of our environment on our creative pool. While we may be aware of annoyances, we are seldom aware of enhancements. This wordshop is an experiment with outside stimuli and specific effects on literary composition.

Week 3: Tapping into the Universal Pool

We often look to others for encouragement and even inspiration. This wordshop focuses on group process writing, designed to open doors in literary expansion, dealing with ideas and modes that take place in group settings.

Week 4: Games People Play

Very often, it is life's random moments that give us the material we need for literary genius. This wordshop focuses on using game playing as a jumping off point to finding poetic style in everyday living. In addition to the writing exercises, we will also discuss--Life after Wordshop: Ways to keep using these techniques to keep our imaginations alive and flourishing.
