Kelly Thomas was born in Fort Bragg, California and raised in Nevada County. She graduated from Sierra College in Grass Valley in 2005 with three Associate of Arts degrees in Humanities, Liberal Arts and Art. While attending Sierra College, she was honored to have made the President’s Honor Roll (Spring 2002), the Dean’s List (Fall 2002), the President’s Honor Roll (Spring 2004) and the National Dean’s List (2005).
In 2003, an abridged version of Kelly’s essay, “The Evolution of Horror in Film,” was published in Sierra College’s own publication, Sierra Review. She also had one of her art pieces, a collage entitled “Black and White Landscape,” accepted at a Sierra College Student Art Show in Grass Valley.
Kelly’s love of art and literature started when she was young and still hasn’t ended. Her first stories consisted only of poorly drawn animals and landscapes. In the third grade, she began to add sentences and paragraphs to her art. And by the eighth grade, she had abandoned the art portion but not art in general.
Kelly’s fascination with the paranormal also began early. Her fixations on aliens from outer space to spooky ghouls have entranced her imagination, which would probably explain why she only writes stories in the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres. Her biggest influences originate not only from traditionally formatted books but also from film, television and comic books. The subjects of her novellas range from creepy spookfests to captivating superheroes.
As a new member of the Literary Lounge, Kelly hopes to mingle with other writers and, in the near future, have her stories published.
