Biography: Born and raised in Northern California, Ken has spent the last thirty-nine years of his life living in Yuba City.

His family camped and spent a great deal of time in the western states. Ken's father had him fly-fishing when he was ten years old. His family lived in the mountains east of Redding. They had their own trout stream 100 feet from the front door. Deer, elk, black bear and cougars were common on their place. Ken grew up being trained to understand and enjoy the wild country.

After three years in the army, he went to college (LLB) and then went into law enforcement for thirty-four years. During those years, he took his wife and boys on many trips to most of the western states, traveling by RV to see national parks and scenic wonders. Their first trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Teton area was for two weeks. Ken fell in love with both parks and prior to his retirement, returned three more times. After his retirement he and his wife spent four seasons living and working at Old Faithful. In 2005 they returned to Yellowstone for another vacation. His zeal for the area has not ebbed.

The store where Ken worked, had racks of guides to Yellowstone, which he found dull, lacking in valuable information to increase people’s enjoyment of the park and save them time and money. After reading many of these guides, he wrote his first travel book.

He has also edited a Civil War journal written by Corporal Frank Grant, Eleventh Vermont Volunteer Infantry.
