Book Donation Program Print E-mail

Book DonationsAs a community Literary Arts Center, Amicus Books relies on the generous support of people who want to see the Literary Arts flourish in our area. To these people we offer our gratitude for seeing our vision for Yuba Sutter. Our goal is to generate funds from your donations applying them to the literary arts, and "paying them forward" to some of our community's most outstanding services.

What Kind Of Books Are Best To Donate?
We feel that it’s important that a community has access to information about their world: biography, science, literature, history (especially local), home & garden, health, . . .etc. As a rule of thumb, we are looking for donations of any books that create knowledge and learning about ourselves and our communities. Click Here to find out what specific kinds of books are best to donate and which books we cannot take.

How Do I pack the books for delivery?
Most people want to buy a book that is in almost new condition. This ideal is what sets the value of a book. A book in great condition is worth more than a book that is in poor condition. Unfortunately, many books are damaged during the transportation process. We ask that donations are packed in regular grocery bags. This protects them from damage, allows for the books to be easily moved, and allows them to be stored compactly until they are processed. Click Here to learn the best way to pack them for delivery!

How Do I Make A Donation?
If you have books to donate and would like to be a part of this project, please give us a call at (530)237-6402. If dropping off your books would be inconvenient for you, we can certainly arrange a time & date for your donation to be picked up.

Who Can Benefit From My Donations?
In addition to Amicus Books Literary Arts Programs, four organizations have chosen to work with us on this project: Dobbins Fire Auxiliary, Yuba Sutter Regional Arts Council, Sutter & Yuba Friday Night Live Partnership, & Middle Mountain Foundation. It is up to you which one you would like the sales of your books to benefit. We feel that all of them play a crucial role in our community’s life. Below you will find their mission statements.

Literary Arts Programs
At Amicus Books our goal is to provide a forum for artistic expression through writing and speech. We are involved in providing literary activities for the Marysville Yuba City community, including poetry readings, author signings, workshops, book clubs, and youth activities. Donations toward the Literary Arts provide the extra financial help to keep these activities and events going. Amicus Books Literary Arts Center is a privately owned, community supported center, donations are not tax deductible.
